Cue the (unnecessary) reunion rumor mill: Blink-182 starting to talk again

Three years ago my sister and all her friends would have loved this news: blink-182 members Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Travis Barker got together and talked for the first time in years. In a post on his blog, here’s what Hoppus had to say:

"in the midst of everything else that has happened lately, tom, travis, and i have all spoken together. first through a number of phone calls, and then a couple of weeks ago we all hung out for a few hours. they’ve all been great, very positive conversations. we’re just reconnecting as friends after four years of not talking. it’s a good thing. obviously the first question for a lot of people will be “does this mean a blink-182 reunion?” the answer is none of us know. we haven’t talked about it at all. right now it’s just good for the three of us to see one another, reconnect, and let the past be the past. the events of the past two months supersede everything that happened before. life is too short."

Apparently dude’s shift and caps lock keys are broken. It has not been determined if the guys will reform (or if the girls that liked them the first time out are still interested), but they could kick off a late-90s revival that could bring back bands like P.O.D., Papa Roach, Limp Bizkit, and other similarly terrible bands. They were broken up? Shows you how little I care about 90s crap-rock.

Why? its like guns 'n' roses putting out an album that sounds like 1990 in 2008.... At least Appetite for Destruction kicked ass all those years ago, and is still regarded as one of the best rock albums ever. All the 14 year old girls who loved Blink are 17 now and love Girlicious. Not to mention the new crop of 14 year old girls who have done the impossible and managed to take a step down in musical taste, skipping to the nearest best buy to get their Jonas brothers and high school musicals. You have no place left in this world Blink-182, you and your peers (Sum 41, Yellow-card for example) have been pushed to the back of the Fad-Pop line.

seriously, reunions are fine and all, but you have to wait at least 2 years after you've broken up...

Dukkookim: I think you should take your grade four Math class over again.

I saw those guys at the side stage of some huge show in Northampton, MA in...uhhh...1995 and they were terrible. Jesus I'm old. Also: apparently they've been around since 92? Holy crap!

Random, but I used to hang out in Northampton around 95. I think I actually saw Jawbreaker that year at Pearl St.

Back to the topic at hand... how did the drummer become the most well known member?

He was cloned from the genetic material of Phil Collins. And then tattooed.

The funniest part about Blink 182 was all the other WORSE bands that came in the package of with these 3 cartoon punks.
Boxcar Racer
Transplants
Angels and Airwaves
+44
They were more than a crap band, they were 5 crap bands.

You r all f***wits dissin one of the best and most imfluencial bands of all time!!

I agree with Tom. If any of you actually listened and paid attention to the music they wrote when they were together through to their latest album in '03 it wasn't just music, it was so much more. Boxcar was a short side project that didn't last long, but their single album was amazing. Currently, I don't believe any of you could sit there and honestly say that you have listened to AVA or +44 and have listened to the lyrics and understand the meaning behind them. AVA's music is so magical and unbelievably brilliant. If you think any of these bands were "crappy", what music could you honestly tell me beats them in terms of what they believed in and stood for? I don't think there is one band that could match what they have ever done or ever stood for.

Blink-182 inspired and played with alot of great bands. Reunion would be amazing. I hope its in the near future. People will go Ape Sh*T.

November 21, 2008 at 7:51 p.m.

Wow, I don't think this means a reunion...but it's amazing enough that they can be in the same room together again! If they did do a reunion tour I could totally see fans behind them! Hell if the spice bitches can do it, anybody can!

December 8, 2008 at 4:26 p.m.

a reunion would be more than words could say. i cant believe all the rumours- its to depressing. but honestly if they do get back together, im there! its blink that said it best- "crappy punk rock" will always rule! guns 'n' roses suck, axel is one of the biggest faggot jack asses of all time!!!!!! blink rules

i cried, literally cried while reading the comments of hate to this band. This band has been one of the most legendary 90s rock groups. They brought people together, and how dare you EVER knock some of the fantastic stuff theyve done. you make me sick.

i hope they do a reunion tour and put your hate remarks to shame.

blink ill always love you forever.

Trinity.
Because you have to be a total ass to Axel fans, you now make me, and every other Blink fan look like a self-absorbed loser. Thank you.
