Crooklyn Dodgers 3 - Mos Def, Jean Grae, Memphis Bleek prod. by 9th Wonder

(Via: Spine, Nah Right)
When I was in high school I used to go to the local record store every week to see what new music came out. On one of those weeks about 12 years ago I bought the cassingle (aka cassette single) for the original Crooklyn Dodgers track. Little did I know that I was purchasing one of the best posse cuts in the history of hip-hop. I often argue with hip-hop purists who claim the genre is a shell of its former self, but I have to admit that the authenticity and the feeling that this song gave me along with the sequel is rarely matched today.
Click below to hear the original track followed by the sequels. Much props to 9th for bringing back the series.

Wow - this is surprisingly really dope. I'd all but given up on 9th Wonder... The Originals x 2 are some of the best records in my stacks...

This is the one of the hottest Hip-Hop jamz I heard in years. That classic sound reminds me of being in high school, posted of the corner up on the ave, rolling across town with the radio on 10 and feeling like life would always be this free on our days off.

I'm in my early 30s and this is the Hip-Hop I feel in love with. Even though I wear my suits and ties to work, I still love that hot verse over a tight beat and that vibe that puts me in that house party where sexy ladies said hello with their eyes not their hands. This something you can pull your Fisherman hat low, roll your tooth pick to the corner of your mouth and chill all day. Peace! ONE!

Pt. III can't f-ck with Pt. I and II... at all! It's not even the same sport yet alone in the same league. Am I the only one who gets a 24 secs. long stream for Pt. I when I hit play??

This track represents the essence of the old feel in Hip-Hop. Straight spitting no gimmicks and gritty beat. Memphis sounds rejuvenated, Mos puts down a hot verse again, and everybody sleeps on Jean Grae she is a spitter. 9th is one of my favorites I listen to all of HOJ cats they dope, this is undoubtley that real Hip Hop!

I listend to Lil Jon, Paul Wall, and even Eminem, but once I heard this, it made me think all of those things are a thing of the past. If you want the real feel and soul of Hip-Hop, then come to these tracks, because they revolutionize the past, present, and history of Hip-Hop!

it seems like anyone can rap these days as long as u have a southern beat and gold teeth. but listing to this is serious accually bars not just the same words over and over again wicked flash to the past.

Crooklyn Dodgers 1 and 2 are the best. Big Up!!!! to 9th wonder but his had a complete different feel than the 1st two. I liked that he brought it back and had some of my favorite MC's on it but it was different feel to me.
