Coyne Offers Rueful Remembrance of Rocking The Peach Pit

Wayne Coyne and the rest of The Flaming Lips have had, what with all the bunny suits, rock operas, and experimental films, no problem maintaining their indie credentials. On the total other end of the spectrum, the band's "Do You Realize" is now the state song of their native Oklahoma, they have appeared on a float in the Rose Parade, and, in perhaps the sweetest crossover moment of all, they rocked the Peach Pit on 90210. Coyne, speaking on the fifteenth anniversary of the appearance, says that while he might not take the opportunity if it was offered today, he chalks the cameo up as The Flaming Lips enjoying the strange perks of being a rock star. Though he does refer to the appearance as "humiliating," he finishes by saying really it "was all that." Though it's good to see the appearance doesn't haunt the band to this day (this post excepted), it would have been much cooler had Coyne spilled on what music fans really want to know: What was Nat like, really?
