Confirmed: The Beatles Now On iTunes. Yay?

Yesterday's news has been confirmed today: The Beatles are on iTunes. All 13 studio albums from the Fab Four are available, and this is obviously a huge feather in Apple's cap, since it locked down the biggest band ever for iTunes. While this news would have been huge news before CD-ripping technology existed, this is really anti-climactic. Who out there was NOT listening to The Beatles on their iPod because their songs weren't for sale on iTunes? Do those people exist? The only group this will affect is tots who are just discovering the Beatles, and would like to pay for MP3s to discover the band instead of just going to YouTube. Otherwise, no news here.

I'm not sure how I feel about reporting a story, asking a series of mildly patronizing rhetorical questions, and then claiming that the story is not worthy of being reported. It makes me feel as weird as writing a comment about it.

it's still big news even though it's not all that big a deal. does that make any sense?

this seems to have been the response by most of the news cycle: "hey ~ lookathis!... uh, i think?" kind of interesting in the tree-falling-in-a-forest-way: is it news if all the other news agencies pick up on it? yes. it may not be terribly riveting, but it's news nonetheless.
