Over the past few years Common has been steadily diluting his reputation as one of the best MCs in hip-hop by also being one of the crappier recording-artist-turned-actors in recent memory. Unfortunately, it looks like Common is continuing down this career path, and might even be interested in playing B.A. Baracus, the role popularized by Mr. T, in the new A-Team movie.
When asked about the role, Common replied, "Yeah that would be something cool, but, I mean, let's see, I can't speak on it yet until we know what's going on but that would be an incredible character to play."
The film's director, Joe Carnahan, also directed the rapper in Smokin' Aces, so it looks like Common has a very real chance to indulge in this particularly lame career move.
I'm just not buying it. Common is an okay actor and all, but he's not ready for a role this big or dynamic.
Dynamic? All he has to do is yell a lot. And wear over the top gold jewelry.
Dag. I mean first off Mr. T is alive and undoubtedly still ripped and capable of playing the role he popularized.
But if T can't hack it, I'd give Com a shot. He'd have to beef up about fitty pounds though ... doesn't he rhyme once "get it off my bird chest?"
