Common’s former summer EP has officially become a winter album with Universal Mind Control now set to drop Dec. 9th. A few slight changes have been made—Kanye West was added to “Punch Drunk Love” and Santogold was subtracted from “Everywhere”—but production is still handled by The Neptunes and Mr. DJ. Common joins a crowded day with Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes and Jadakiss all supposedly releasing that same Tuesday. Labels used to avoid this kind of traffic jam like the plague but lately, baiting people into the store with a lot of big name albums at once seems to increase the chance they’ll buy more than just one while their wallets are already out. At this point, it can’t hurt.
