Coldplay again almost finished with album

With a release date looming on the twentieth of May, Coldplay has announced that they are again nearing completion on their much-anticipated fourth album. After squashing rumors that the album was to be called Prospekt, the band went on to say in a note on their website that all that remained to be done was some mixing and “rerecording one of the songs from scratch.” Though the group has been recording for the better part of two years, recent sessions seem to have been among the most productive:

"In times gone by I would have set aside a month to re-record a track. However, the week before Christmas, we recorded two tracks in four days - 'Lovers In Japan' and 'Strawberry Swing.' On the fifth day (Friday), Chris [Martin] put down new lyrics (and new melodies) on two other tracks. It was far and away the most productive and exciting week we've ever had in the studio.”

The as-yet untitled album is being produced by Brian Eno and will be released by EMI. [Chartattack]
