To be fair, it's hard to donate seven figures anywhere anonymously, so it's tempting to give Chris Maritn and Coldplay a pass on the press surrounding their recent generosity to Kids Company, a London charity. It would be much, much cooler, however, if the band made their donation in U2's name. If Bono didn't immediately jump forward and set the record straight, Coldplay could discredit them and take the mantle they were so blatantly aspiring to on Viva La Vida. Coldplay does get a little extra credit, though, for actually giving music lessons at the charity. Even when the figures get so large, time is always more valuable than money. [NME]
