Colbert humbles Kanye, falls short of goal, laughs all the way to the bank

The masses have backed Stephen Colbert's play to humble Kanye West, though after what can only be described as a tough sales week for West, the joke amounted to giving comeuppance when the uppance had already come. In what may be a sign of karmic retribution, however, Colbert's A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All didn't make the top spot, trailing the deluxe version of Circus by Britney Spears, who spent Sunday night on MTV trying to prove that she had new perspective after a few weird years. And what might be forgotten in Colbert's near miss is that the man just made huge bank by selling copies of his record. It's a good thing that a portion of iTunes sales of Colbert's album goes to the Feeding America charity, or else his "operation" would like more and more like shameless promotion. Not that there's any shame in representing one's product (as Axl is finding out), but to do it at the direct expense of another person, even Kanye, is mean-spirited. [Edible Apple]
