There’s something special about the Coachella Music Festival taking place in the California desert. Maybe it’s the tendency to dehydrate and the general lack of shade. Maybe it’s the fact that all these bands/artists are rocking out on polo grounds in the ultra tony Palm Springs/Palm Desert communities. Or maybe it’s the requisite quota of pale goth kids dressed all in black despite triple-digit temperatures. Yes, Coachella should always be held in the desert. But an East Coast equivalent, say, a few months later would surely be a nice complement. And Perez Hilton reports that plans are in the works.
"In addition [to] having the festival outside of Palm Springs, like they do every year, this year they're mounting an East Coast version of Coachella in New York or possibly New Jersey," an unnamed source told the web site. Perez says the festival is tentatively slated for August.
The lineup for this spring’s festival hasn’t been officially announced yet, but that hasn’t stopped the hoaxes. [Perez Hilton]

Billboard's now backing this up with a place (Liberty State Park) and says though run by Goldenvoice, this event won't |

Interestingly enough, there's a "massive music festival" planned for the economic depression zone known as Vineland, NJ, that has been touted by an awful lot of people involved as being the biggest festival on the east coast. It will happen sometime in August and will supposedly feature some big-name bands. It was originally slated for Philadelphia's Fairmount Park. That's about all the information that's come out so far. |

Vineland's festival has been canceled |

If it's in Jersey, does that mean Bon Jovi headlines with a bunch of cover bands from the Shore as supporting acts?
