Best Coast, that lovable hazy, lazy Cali pop-punk outfit headed by Bethany Cosentino, has ridden a wave of unbelievable popularity this year; now, the band has been itemized by CNN for a 3-minute video about Cosentino's music, ethos, inspiration and all that noise. Watch the video to see her talking about rap, why she writes about boys, dropping out of college and other things; if you've followed her career/Twitter to date this stuff won't be too fresh, but this is aimed at people who are usually watching Wolf Blitzer, not scouring the blogs. "Duh" quote of the week: "When people listen to Best Coast, I want them to feel like they're at the beach all the time." Teach the masses about blisswave, Bethany! [CNN]
I love that Best Coast is getting this kind of crossover exposure. It's a perfect pop band in the classic sense of the term, and Bethany has a pure pop voice and one hell of an ear for hooks. Always thought her obsession with boys and cats and the like was a bit tongue in cheek, could be wrong.
Sooooooo bad. Cheesiest interview.
