So, in a long list of confusing moves by Jive Records regarding Virginia's dynamic duo Clipse, it seems that after a lengthy, vicious and very public battle, the Brothers Thornton have been released from their Jive contract. Here's the salient bit from the story in Toronto's Eye Weekly:
Question is, will the Re-Up Gang record come out on Jive? ... I ask Malice if they can talk about what labels they're in discussions with.
''"Right now Clipse are free agents,''" he says. ''"There are a few labels that are interested.''"
Clipse have been released from their Jive contract?
''"Yeah, yeah.''"
This makes perfect sense, actually, in that it makes almost no sense at all. Why now? Why let all that time elapse between Lord Willin' and Hell Hath No Fury and deal with mixtape interlude after mixtape interlude assaulting your company's stupidity just to let them go a few months after the record finally gets released?
The sucky part is that Malice hints Clipse might move back toward a lighter sound if things are more hunky dory in their camp. Boo for that. We want "Ride Around Shining" Part Two.

If they get released, they'll probably have less anger and then we get a worse album.
