Class action lawsuit targets Apple music monopoly

While the Zune still doesn't register on the music player market, Apple is beginning to show a little vulnerability. Still dealing with iffy sales on the iPhone, Apple has now been hit with a class action lawsuit in Florida that alleges an unfair monoply between music purchased on iTunes and the company's iPod music players. For the full story, click here.
While I am still an iPod zombie, the Zune may be the wave of the future. I see more and more of the young folks walking around with them, while the gray hairs like me are lugging around a clunky iPod or (God forbid) the iPhone we purchased before the price drop. If Apple takes a hit on iTunes, what's to keep Microsoft from taking advantage?

Your thoughts are the opposite of mine Mike. I had a Zune and hated lugging that thing around in public while all the kids were showing off their iPods.

how is the ipod 'clunky' compared to the zune? have you ever held a zune? i will give you a hint: it is larger than the ipod.how have iphone sales been iffy? all indications, and i mean all, point in entirely the opposite direction.how does the class action suit show vulnerability? it has no legs. you, my friend, are full of crap.

What about the three percent stock drop at ATT?

what time period are you referring to? today? the day of the 2nd quarter earnings announcement? the day the initial sales figures for the iPhone came out?

I love how Job's groupies get all defensive when someone takes a jab at an Apple product.

i don't understand why some people defend Apple like their sainted grandmother. note the horrid armies of vaguely urban dancing silhouettes that besmirch the city walls of any major metropolitan area. apple = this decade's microsoft in terms of big-brother evil.

i wouldn't say i'm an Apple fan boy although after 15 years of using PCs versus 6 months of using a Mac, I regret not having had a Mac earlier. anyways, back on topic i think it's inaccurate to call iPhone sales iffy at this point. if you're going to state that you need to back it up with figures and I'm not talking about figures back in July when it first launched, since far more up to date numbers are now available.

I have been victimized by MP4 protocols and itunes long enough.Where do I sign up to sue Apple and make them buy back this 30gb ipod piece of junk so I can buy a Zen or a Zune that won't ruin my music collection or crash every 3 months and infect my expensive computer with invasive, usleless McSoftware like itunes 7.Anyone who buys an ipod from gen 5 onwards is mentally deficient.I have over $500 invested in my video ipod and related accessories and have not been able to watch a single video and cannot get it to load more than 200 songs through itunes and neither can the Apple Dealer in my home town of 500,000 souls. This is poorly designed rubbish and any ideas I had about possibly using this video ipod for watching
podcasts or any other darned thing is a fantasy and to top it all off during the MP4 conversion process my entire backup of my music collection spanning 25 years was somehow lost because itunes didn't like the licensing on stuff that I had translated from analog records and tapes to MP3 and 1/3 of it was unreplaceable!

I WANT APPLE COMPUTERS TO PAY UP OR GET PUT OUT OF BUSINESS,DON'T BUY ONE OF THESE DEFECTIVE PIECES OF JUNK !!
