When Clarence Clemons passed away last year it left a sizable hole in Bruce Springsteen’s E-Street Band. The question of how to replace the big man, who made such a stunning musical and visual impact on stage, has now been answered, with Clemons’ nephew, Jake, taking over the role.
A post on Springsteen’s Facebook page announced the news, with Jake Clemons now set to share saxophone duties with long term E-Street Band member Eddie Manion. The tour will be in support of the forthcoming album Wrecking Ball, which is set for release in early March. The full Facebook statement looks like this:
"The expanded line up for this Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band tour features singers Cindy Mizelle and Curtis King, trombonist Clark Gayton and trumpeter Curt Ramm, all of whom have toured with Bruce Springsteen in the past along with newcomer Barry Danielian on trumpet. E Street stalwart Eddie Manion and first time tour member Jake Clemons, will share the saxophone role."
