Depending on who you ask, Chuck Schuldiner (pictured front and center in the picture) was a genius or megalomaniacal bastard. Sometimes both. But no matter your perspective, the musical legacy that Schuldiner carved out as the creative force behind the seminal death metal band Death is still an inspiring one to hordes of metal bands and bedroom shredders, and Death records still remain as some of the most timeless statements in the genre's history. Back in December, the Greek metal magazine Rock Hard published a tribute to Schuldiner to mark the fifth anniversary of his passing due to brain cancer. Guitar World took up the article for its April 2007 edition; on May 13th, which would have been Schuldiner's 40th birthday,Empty Words posted the entire article online.
You can read the tribute article here, and find full statements from each of the interviewees here.
