Lending further credence to our “Redman cameos get people hot and bothered” theory, Christina Aguilera’s infamously raunchy video for “Dirrty” has been voted the sexiest female music video ever, according to an MSN music survey. The 2002 single was only a mild hit for Aguilera, but between Aguilera’s skimpy bikini and its many references to fetishes from furries to water sports, the video was a cultural sensation, the moment that teen-pop stopped being implicitly sexual and became explicitly so.
Rounding out the top sexiest videos were Britney Spears’ “I’m a Slave 4 U,” Kylie Minogue’s “Spinning Around,” Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love” and the Pussycat Dolls’ “Don’t Cha.” Sadly missing? The less overtly risque but no-less-hotter Hole videos for “Violet” and “Doll Parts,” where a taut, young Courtney Love informed an entire generation’s sexuality by tugging away angstily at her curve-hugging dresses. The thing is that there's a line. I enjoyed that Aguilera video, mostly because I thought she crossed the line from sexy into camp, and who doesn't like camp? But it's too over the top to really be sexy I think.
