Christina Aguilera’s ‘Bionic’ Sets Uncool Sales Record In The U.K.

It seems oddly fitting that 10 short years ago, we were celebrating a bunch of really positive sales records (like N’Sync selling about 10 billion or something in one week), and now we’re reporting bad sales records (“dude who made bedroom pop album on a kazoo hits top 100”). Case in point: Christina Aguilera’s Bionic album was the number one album in the U.K. last week, but reached that plateau with the lowest sales in eight years (only 24,000 units sold). This week, Bionic set another sales record: It experienced the steepest drop in chart position for a number one album ever in the U.K., sliding all the way down to number 29. Congrats Christina, I guess. Or not?
