In an interview with Total Film, Star Trek actor Chris Pine shared a few minor details about the highly anticipated sequel to the sci-fi blockbuster.
While Pine remained quiet about any plot details, he did say that the lightly comedic tone of the first film remains in J.J. Abrams’ script for the next Star Trek. “We’re not making Batman. That’s not our deal,” said Pine.
However, Pine notes that the comic relief in the script will not overshadow the action and drama fans expect from the movie. “There’s comedy, which I think J.J. does a great job of, but, like the first one, there’s some serious issues being dealt with. And I’d say the threat is even greater in this one.”
The still-untitled Star Trek sequel opens in theaters on May 17, 2013. The cast of the first film is returning for the sequel and Benedict Cumberbatch (BBC’s Sherlock) is attached to play the villain.
