The sentencing of Chris Brown in his assault case against Rihanna was announced in Los Angeles yesterday (Aug. 25). The singer will endure 180 days of community labor for his crimes, and was also sentenced to five years probation. Brown also has to attend a domestic violence counseling program for one year.
Brown’s community work will mirror that of fallen ‘80s icon Boy George, who had to clean up trash on the streets of New York City. Brown will serve his sentence in his home state of Virginia, which caused a delay to the trial after Judge Patricia Schnegg determined whether this was a viable option for the singer.
It also emerged that Brown was involved in two other altercations with Rihanna prior to their spat on Feb. 8, one of which occurred in Europe approximately three months before the assault. The other incident involved Brown smashing up a car in Barbados while the couple were on vacation. Expect a paparazzi frenzy when Brown hits the streets of Virginia to serve out his community labor.
