Chin Up Chin Up, those darlings of the avant-pop world, are calling it quits after eight years. The Myspace post announcing this decision is decidedly vague about the circumstances surrounding the dissolution. Frontman Jeremy Bolen merely comments that "just as this band began in a natural way it is naturally coming to an end."
Don't get too despondent though--Bolen already has another project in the works. Vacations, featuring Bolen and his former bandmates Greg Sharp and Bobby Burg, are releasing their debut album I Was Bikini / But Ran Afraid on April 7 via their own Record Label imprint in conjunction with Flameshovel. If you'd like to have one last, meaningful experience with the boys before they say adieu, they're playing their farewell show at Chicago's Empty Bottle on May 15. [Pitchfork]
