Today, Korean K-pop group 2NE1 will be making their live U.S. concert debut at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The date is part of their ‘New Evolution‘ tour which began in Seoul, South Korea. On August 23, 2012, the group will also be the first Asian musical group to be part of ‘Facebook Live’.
Joining the ranks of Obama, Madonna, Katy Perry, Maroon 5 and Oprah Winfrey, the group will be heading into Facebook headquarters for the 45 minute event. They’ll be hosting a Q&A, revealing stories about their current ‘New Evolution’ tour and maybe even their English album debut which was produced by will.i.am with their Facebook fans – which happens to be over 3,000,000.
With PSY having become an international star with his “Gangnam Style” music video and 2NE1 becoming the first Asian musicians to be featured on ‘Facebook Live’, YG Entertainment and K-pop seem to be doing something right with their use of social media. The “Hallyu Wave” is still going strong. Fighting!
Although there is no direct link to the chat, you can go to the ‘Facebook Live’ page here. Stay tuned for more details.
