Changes coming to Coachella

Via Billboard
Proving that Americans still think bigger is always better, landmark U.S. concert festival Coachella will next year expand from a two to three day event. But that's still not all. After bringing the indie rock, hip-hop, and dance to Indio, California's Empire Polo Field April 27-29, the next weekend promoter Goldenvoice will turn right around and hold a country music jamboree in the same spot. Artists set to appear at that inaugural hoedown include Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, George Strait, Lucinda Williams, Nickel Creek, Sugarland, Earl Scruggs, and Ricky Skaggs.
No word yet on what big name acts will be headlining the April event. Those announcements should come in January or February. Start your own office pool speculating on Big Reunion Appearance of the Year. Smashing Pumpkins? Pavement? Rage Against the Machine?

I wonder if this means less acts per day? Coachella's already pretty packed with two days, maybe this will mean less scheduling conflicts. So long as Madonna's not there again.

[...] We told you a while ago that some changes were coming to Indio, California, site of the monolithic Coachella Music Festival. For one, this year’s main fest will be three days. In addition, that event is spinning off a country music affair, now going by the name of Stagecoach. It will be held May 5th and 6th. Bright spots announced since last we updated this story include Drive-By Truckers, Neko Case, Ramblin’ Jack Elliot, Raul Malo, and Alejandro Escovedo. Plenty more mainstream country artists will also be on hand.            [...]
