It was inevitable that someone would get twitchy over the cavalcade of Tumblr sites that have appeared over the past few years. Step forward Celine Dion, who got lawyered up when someone started a site named Ridiculous Pictures Of Celine Dion, which now bears the following message:
céline dion found our blog, and she didn’t like it. we just got a letter from céline’s lawyers that the blog has to be shut down.
though this blog is well within the realm of ‘fair use’, i don’t have the money or time to get a lawyer to respond. the dream is over.
thanks for following and being a céline superfan
i’ll always remember u
i’ll never let go
It’s not clear whether this will set a precedent—it’s more likely to be a freakish one-off—but the folks at Tumblr will have a hell of a job on their hands if other celebs decide to follow Dion’s lead. Naturally, many of the pics from that Tumblr are now appearing elsewhere on the web, but we’ll let those sites dig their own potential graves—and a Google search will take you exactly where you want to go anyway.
