Cat Power Releasing New Song As Charity Download

There’s a message on Matador’s blog that simply says: “Visit catpowermusic.com today." Unfortunately the site appears to be down at present—clearly the Matablog wields some influence over the indie-rock masses—but Chan Marshall has filled in the gaps by tweeting about her recent activities.

“ALMOST DONE WITH ALBUM,” she writes (the all caps are, regrettably, hers). “IN 9 DAYS WILL HAVE A SONG AVAILABLE FOR HOLIDAY CHARITY DOWNLOAD W O R D ! XXXX”  She goes on to tweet that the song will be a download and video, and there will be a list of charities from which to choose.

So, if everything goes to plan, by Christmas Eve Cat Power fans should have a taste of her new direction. As for her Kanye style all-caps posting method, Marshall is unapologetic. “I PREFER ALL CAPS, I JADORE ALL CAPS :)” she tweets.
