Castanets is the name of the musical project helmed by Ray Raposa. The new Castanets album, In the Vines, is slated for a release later this month (October 23, to be exact) on Sufjan Stevens' Asthmatic Kitty label. The album is subdued and gorgeous, with Raposa's low, throaty voice making the modifier "haunting" not seem cliche for once. Just a handful of days before In the Vines drops, Raposa will head out on the road. He's taking the band Deer Tick with him, both to serve as openers and as his backing band.
