Casiotone For The Painfully Alone Calls It Quits, Plans Final Tour

More like Casiotone for the Painfully Retired.

After 13 years and five albums, introspective sad man Owen Ashworth is packing up his solo act, hanging up his keyboard and moving on, saying that he's "ready for a fresh start & a new challenge." The Portland-based Ashworth is plotting a farewell tour through the US, Canada and Europe before unplugging himself at the end of the year. As a farewell gesture, Tomlab is prepping a memorial 10-inch due out around Christmas and an unnamed "grand finale" is also in the works, though what form it will take is still unclear.

This likely won't be the end of Ashworth's musical endeavors, though; he's already started to think about new projects. So stay tuned.

In addition to the news, a note on his Myspace page sends out a heartfelt thanks to all the fans who have been with him throughout the years: "I never would have started playing shows or making records without the encouragement of some great friends, & it's blowing my ever-loving mind how many more friends I've made through music over the years.  Seriously, thank you."
