Carly Simon Sues Starbucks Over Album Deal

The 70s icon isn’t just being vain about her album sales—Carly Simon filed a lawsuit Friday against Starbucks Corp. alleging that the chain poorly promoted her 2008 release, This Kind of Love, which was carried as part of Starbucks’ past music venture. Personally, I can’t say I’m surprised, since I don’t know anyone who shopped for their music at Starbucks.

Simon argues that the album was not readily available in “a substantial number” of stores immediately following its release, and that once it did appear, the price of the disc was cut considerably. The claim states that by doing this, “Starbucks stigmatized Ms. Simon’s album as an album that could not be sold at full price.” Starbucks stated Monday that the company held up their contract, even extending the promotional period for the album. However, Simon has canceled her plans for retirement based off the sluggish sales.

Are you kidding me? People don't have money for CD's right now, much less Starbucks!
