
One of the most sought after bootlegs in the underground rock market is about to get a release on Jan. 15. Captain Beefheart’s Bat Chain Puller was originally due to surface in 1976, but a legal dispute between producer Frank Zappa and manager Frank Cohen caused it to languish in the vaults.
Alternative versions of four songs did surface on Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller) in 1978, but the new reissue will be the first time the original recordings have been released. Three additional tracks from the same sessions will accompany the 12-song recording, and preorders are now being taken over here. Check out the track listing below.
