The tinkering, stutter-stepping notes of elation and abundance of rumors circulating around Clues can mean only one thing--this band is going to kill. Which is no surprise considering it is comprised of numerous Canadians: Alden Penner, former Unicorns member, Brendan Reed, former Arcade Fire member, and Bethany Or of Shanghai Triad. Having already made an appearance at Pop Montreal you can expect to hear a lot from Clues in the future, including a full-length album due out sometime in April under Constellation Records. Their sounds is, yes, more refined than the Unicorns, but still exuberantly poppy with stop-and-go time switches and interesting piano tunes that stilt and creep at first only to stomp and trample later. But don't just take my word for it, you can download a sample track here. Clues emerges from their brisk Canadian winter to play a handful of shows in the states with the kickoff on election day: 11-04 The EXIT ART Gallery, NY
11-05 Bard College, NY
11-06 Burlington, VT
11-07 Dartmouth College, NH
11-08 Bennington College, VT
Take a gander at their inane online store and Canadian artists' record studio Villa Villa Nola.
