Calexico releasing new album, touring

Former Giant Sand sidemen Joey Burns and John Convertino are releasing a new Calexico album in September. The boys from Tucson, Arizona, have been keeping themselves busy since their last record, Garden Ruin, hit stores in 2006. They’ve been opening for Glen Hansard and his Oscar-winning Swell Season, contributing to Todd Haynes’s I’m Not There soundtrack, and even jettisoning their music into outer space.

Calexico’s new album, titled Carried to Dust, will be available on September 9, and features appearances from likeminded souls such as Sam Beam from Iron and Wine and Doug McCombs from Tortoise. The bands is also touring before and after the release of Carried to Dust, full dates below.
