Busdriver Announces Next Album, Shares New Song

Since releasing the wonderfully eclectic Jhelli Beam in 2009, Los Angeles rap alien Busdriver has mostly stayed busy working on with other artists. While it’s true he released the Computer Cooties mixtape last year, he primarily flexed his collaboration muscles. This included projects with Berlin producers Modeselektor, fellow L.A. spitter Nocando, and art-rock outfit Deerhoof.

Busdriver then got back on his solo grind this fall with the release of the Leaf House single, which featured an Animal Collective cover and a track produced by Flying Lotus. And amidst all this, the West Coast rhymer was apparently piecing together Beaus$Eros. It’s his seventh studio album and features beats solely from Dutch beatsmith Loden. He has laced Busdriver with genre-spanning production to create a record with touches of synth-pop, IDM, and, of course, left-field boom-bap.

You can hear nearly all of those styles peaking their heads through the floor of Beaus$Eros highlight “No Blacks No Jews No Asians,” a booming, awesomely weird tune. You can stream and download it below. Beaus$Eros is set to drop Jan. 16, 2012 on Fake Four.
