Burial went underground just when dubstep went overground. The shadowy musician hasn’t released a full-length record since Untrue in 2007, although EPs and guest appearances have been made in the interim. Earlier this year we got a taste of “Street Halo,” and that’s going to be followed by another release in the format next yeat, as Hyperdub has just announced a new Burial EP titled Kindred.
There aren’t any other details available at present—no release date, track listing or cover art—as the news was delivered in a short tweet by Hyperdub label boss Kode9. His most impressive release in recent times was the “Ego/Mirror” 12-inch with Four Tet and Thom Yorke from earlier this year, which adeptly filtered influences from all three musicians into a satisfying release. As such, Kindred will have a lot to live up to when it surfaces. [via FACT]
