Bruce Springsteen's Eulogy To Clarence Clemons Published

The sad passing of E Street band member Clarence Clemons touched people far beyond his immediate circle of friends, colleagues and fanbase. But one person who must have been devastated by the news is Bruce Springsteen—and details have now emerged of the eulogy he gave to Clemons at the sax player’s funeral in Florida on June 21.

A “slightly revised” version of the speech is now up on Springsteen’s official site, which you can read by simply clicking on this link. It’s a touching document, with the singer demonstrating the enormous respect he had for Clemons, and even ending it with an amusing anecdote that neatly sums up their relationship.

“Clarence was big, and he made me feel, and think, and love, and dream big. How big was the Big Man? Too fucking big to die,” he writes. "And that's just the facts. You can put it on his grave stone, you can tattoo it over your heart. Accept it... it's the New World."

"Clarence doesn't leave the E Street Band when he dies. He leaves when we die.”
