Broken Social Scene Recording a New Album

Rambling Canadian collective is finally pulling it all together to record a new album. Broken Social Scene proper, that is; none of that "presents..." stuff. The band is currently recording at Chicago's Soma Electronic Music Studio with John McEntire (Tortoise, The Sea and Cake).

In his post on the band's website, Kevin Drew said about the forthcoming record, "I can't tell you what this record will sound like, who from the other great bands will be involved, but I can tell you it feels amazing to be in Chicago recording."

Of course considering the band's switch from longtime producer Dave Newfeld to John McEntire, and their inconstant lineup, those are pretty much the questions any fan wants answered, but it's good to know that they're working at all.

You can read more about the band's recording process, their new book coming out, and they're problems with racecars, in Drew's blog post.
