After Britney Spears appeared in several commercials promoting the upcoming 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, rumors of her performing at the awards ceremony started up.

Considering Spears quite possibly gave one of the most memorable performances (not in a good way) at last year's VMAs, people were buzzing over the potential follow-up trainwreck this year. However, it appears that Spears will not perform at the 2008 VMAs.

After weeks of ”will she or won’t she” speculation about whether Spears will perform again this year, her manager told Ryan Seacrest on Monday that she will not.

“Britney Spears will not be performing at the VMAs this year.  I’m telling you officially and unequivocally,” said manager Larry Rudolf on Seacrest’s KISS-FM morning radio show in Los Angeles.
