You can put away those vigil candles and stop wearing all that dreary black, because despite rumors issued from various corners of the internet, Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus are both alive and accounted for. Spears and Cyrus are the latest victims in a recent rash of post-MJ celebrity death stunts. Spears' Twitter account was hacked on Saturday, and a message was sent to her two million followers saying, "Britney has passed today. It is a sad day for everyone. More news to come." Twitter was immediately informed of the problem, and they set about solving the vulnerability in the system that led to the hack.
Meanwhile, representatives for Spears sent out a correction: "Britney’s Twitter was just hacked. The last message is obviously not true. She is fine and dandy spending a quiet day at home relaxing."
Cyrus' death rumor was a bit more extreme. Mediafetcher.com published a fake news report saying that she was lost off the coast of France after her yacht caught fire and sank. The strange celebrity death rumor mill of the past few days has also included stories about Harrison Ford and Jeff Goldblum, but luckily my screenplay for Indiana Jones Meets the Fly is still a viable possibility.
