British emcee Sway to get the Pharrell treatment
Sometimes being a music fan is like being a really big fan of literature -- you're consistently watching your favorite books (artists) turned into movies (brought into the spotlight) and often, they get mishandled and butchered in the process.
British hip-hop badass Sway is coming to America (no Eddie Murphy) and it looks like he'll be put in the hands of Akon and Pharrell.
While we're a bit lukewarm on Akon, the Pharrell announcement is kind of like hearing that Scorsese is signed up to direct your favorite crime novel. Sway's got a bit of R&B in him, so the Akon thing makes sense, and Pharrell should deal with that quite nicely.
We're only expecting a masterpiece, Sway ... no pressure.

I like Akon.

i think akon will definitely work with sway, i'm just not super crazy about him in general. although i'd rather listen to "konvicted" than "in my mind."

Sway is good.

now there's something we can all agree on.

I'm glad to learn this isn't that fool Sway on MTV doing a record.

That Sway used to be good too. I miss the Sway and King Tech "Wake Up Show" CDs.

Adrian Covert

I had Sway and Tech's "Concrete Jungle" on cassette. I wore that thing out. The Wake Up Show was fantastic, and I made some great hip-hop discoveries during the rest of the KMEL 10 o'clock mixes. That's where my obsession with Diamond D began...

Mike Krolak

KMEL used to be great. i used to record the wake up show every friday night my junior year of high school. but naturally, when i finally realized how genius it was, sway went to mtv and left the wake up show behind.
