Track Review: Bright Eyes "Tourist Trap"

Saddle Creek put the kibosh on our stream of Bright Eyes' "Four Winds" stream that we posted earlier today, but it seems their heart was in the right place: They were simply planning on releasing a different song off the Four Winds EP today, and so we give you "Tourist Trap."
I have to admit, I don't know why Saddle Creek is choosing to release this song first. Let's just say it's easy to see why one of these tracks made it onto the forthcoming Cassadega LP and one didn't. "Tourist Trap" is, for lack of a better word, kinda dull--all subdued guitar strumming and piano plinking. With Oberst complaining about "the way these strangers stand so close" and the traffic "like a pack of dogs," it's clear that he's already getting a little sick of New York City. Maybe his upcoming tour will do him some good.

Spoon drummer Jim Eno, Now It’s Overhead’s Andy LeMaster, and producer Doug Easley (Cat Power) all had a hand in crafting Lynn; and, this being a Saddle Creek release, you know Conor Oberst is making an appearance on it.
