Seems the trend of getting a bunch of bands together to do crazy covers for the benefit of a charity organization is really taking off. That latest example is Bridging the Distance, a collection curated by Arena Rock Recordings (and set to be released by that label on April 17) featuring Portland-based bands. Proceeds from the album's sales will go to p:ear, which the label describes as "a local education, art, and recreational program for homeless and transitional youth." Curious highlights include the Thermals doing Zep's "Tangerine," the Minus 5 handling Skynard's "That Smell," the Dandy Warhols' with the Cult's "She Sells Sanctuary," and Blitzen Trapper on Heart's "Crazy on You."
