Brian Wilson to Record Album of Never-Released George Gershwin Fragments

Brian Wilson is planning an album of George Gershwin songs, which were left in limbo when the “Someone to Watch Over Me” composer died in 1937. “I’m thrilled to death,” 67-year-old Wilson says, claiming that “Rhapsody in Blue” is his first musical memory. Walt Disney Records will release the album, which will consist of song fragments from the archive stitched together with new music from Wilson. As Randy Wilson of LA Times writes, “it’s been exceedingly rare that the person finishing the uncompleted work has been as prominent as the artist who left the work behind.” [LA Times via The Daily Swarm]
