Capitol Records has announced plans to preview Brian Wilson’s upcoming album, That Lucky Old Sun, through websites of Gannett newspapers from August 22, through September 1 (the album comes out the next day). USA Today, and more than 50 other Gannett newspaper sites will offer a full stream of That Lucky Old Sun, and the player will link for listeners to buy the album at Amazon.
It’s a shrewd business move on the part of Capitol Records, considering the standard Brian Wilson fan isn’t looking for advance torrents of the album or reading music blogs. Putting the music in spots where Wilson’s core demographic (read: 40-70 year-olds) most frequently visit is a great idea.
