Brian Wilson will perform three shows at the Hollywood Bowl in September for That Lucky Old Sun, his follow-up to 2004's infamous Smile. That Lucky Old Sun also marks Wilson's return to Capitol records. Slated for release on Sept. 2, the themed album explores, "southern California culture that he helped define musically in the 1960s as the guiding creative force of the Beach Boys," according to the Los Angeles Times. Doesn't just about every Wilson/Beach Boys song ever deal with So Cal culture in one way or another? Wilson performed Sun last September at London's Royal Festival Hall. The Hollywood Bowl shows are Sept. 12 to 14.
Wilson once again teamed with lyricist Van Dyke Parks for the album which features an "interwoven series of 'rounds' with interspersed spoken word," the Times reports. "It comprises a series of narratives with the sun, voiced by Wilson, as the narrator of a series of snapshots of life in Southern California." [L.A. Times via The Daily Swarm]
