Remember back in the good old days of June 8, 2009 when everyone was talking about how Bret Michaels' got his faced smashed at the Tonys on June 7, 2009? Those were good times. I've posted the video above so we can reminisce about the homies we've lost since then. 

Right after the incident, reps for the Tony awards announced via their Twitters that Michaels was cool and didn't need nothing but a good time. He just missed his mark and was embarrassed. Doogie Howser Neil Patrick Harris, who hosted the show for some reason, joked from the stage that he and Michaels were drinking cocktails and that's why he missed his mark.

Turns out Michaels wasn't okay; According to his reps, he suffered a fractured nose, scrapes and had to have multiple stiches to fix his lip. His reps are super pissed at the Tonys people right now, because Bret Michaels is a man of integrity and seriousness. He carries himself on some Dick Cheney level. So they've released a statement that gets gully on the Tonys people:

“Sunday morning at rehearsals, Bret was never informed that the descending set piece existed let alone would be moving into position as he was exiting the stage,” the statement reads, arguing it was impossible for the rocker to have missed a mark. Noting that Michaels is no stranger to onstage production like pyro, the statement goes to on say Bret put his safety in the hands of the prop’s riggers, who dangerously continued to lower the piece after Michaels had been struck and fallen.

 

Michaels’ reps seem particularly outraged that their client’s condition seemed to be of little concern to the Tonys. “I feel had this incident happened to Liza Minnelli, Dolly Parton or Elton John the Tonys would have at least issued a letter of concern,” the statement reads. “It is unfortunate that the show’s host made light of the situation without having any knowledge of the severity of Bret’s injuries. Comments that Mr. Harris was doing shots backstage with Mr. Michaels and that Bret was completely fine were untrue considering Bret never saw Mr. Harris prior to, during or after the Tonys but in fact was being attended to by medical personnel backstage.”

I think they've got a point on the Liza Minelli or Elton John part of the statement. But then again, Michaels was there solely to capitalize on the irony of the Tonys watching-set, not as a serious guest. What do they think the show is? Rock of Love: Love Bus?

Michaels is expected to make a full announcement sometime later this week, revealling the (un)skinny on his bop. (Boom, second Poison song reference. And they said it couldn't be done.) [RS]
