As SXSW proved, I am not the only one happy to see The Breeders back after their long hiatus. A full stream of their new set, Mountain Battles, is currently available on their website with some dandy footage of the sisters Deal preparing for a listening party at what appears to be the local VFW. Though anything is going to sound better with tablecloths and patriotic flower arrangements, Mountain Battles sounds well worth checking out. Though most of the first songs sound pretty spare, the album works up some heavier grooves to go along with the slower melodies and showcase those distinctive Deal vocals. Mountain Battles releases in the United States on April 8^th.
