Brandon Flowers: "Write another 'Creep' Thom"

Via: Contact Music
Thom Yorke is wasting his talent. That's right folks, instead of constantly challenging both himself and his listeners by pushing his creative boundaries, he should just rehash his mid-nineties work ad nauseam. At least according to Brandon Flowers...
Speaking to Contact Music, Pretty Boy had the following to say: "He should feel grateful that he's been given the gift to write pop songs--which he needs to write again."
No, Brandon. No he doesn't. I think he's doing just fine. Thanks for the concern though.

Isn't that what we have the Killers for? To write catchy, forgettable pop songs that make great background music on ESPN highlight reels...

[...] So, this Sébastien Schuller guy is pretty good. He is French, which means that he is from France, but he lives in Philly now, most likely because of the low advertised rents. His album, Happiness, was just released on Minty Fresh this week. Anyhoo, this song pretty well sets the tone for the rest of his album. Think of the Album Leaf’s thick synth whatnot set in a more linear motion, with some Thom “hitmaker” Yorke vox and there you go jerks. Watch the video for “Weeping Willow.” [...]

I hate to say it... but I actually agree with Johnny Killer on this. Sort of. Yorke really does a gift for writing pop songs, a gift that hasn't seen much action in recent years. I don't necessarily need him to write another Creep -- but I sure wouldn't complain if he wrote another High and Dry or another Fake Plastic Trees (both of which were skillfully executed pop songs). Though I respect Radiohead's less pop-oriented recent material, I would be pleasantly surprised if the band found its way back to writing anthemic pop tunes.

How can you blame a guy for wanting to expand his musical horizons? Brandon Flowers has no room to speak here. He needs to pull his head out of his ass and realize his band will never be Radiohead OR write a pop song near as good as Radiohead ever did. Bash me away Killers fans.

[...] Via: NME Killers frontman Brandon Flowers should really consider just shutting up from now on unless he’s singing. Last week, we told you about the “advice” Flowers was trying to give to Thom Yorke and now, in a recent interview with GQ, Flowers explains how his band’s name might be literal in his case. Apparently, Flowers ran someone over one time in his car. [...]

i'm a huge fan of the killers and brandon flowers, but i wish that he'd just keep his mouth shut every once in a while. i mean, i understand wanting to express yourself, but why diss everybody for no reason? he's already caused problems with both fall out boy and the bravery....

I hate all these people telling Brandon to just, "Shut up and sing" (as the Dixie Chicks put it). Do they realize how terrible that is to say that? He should be able to say whatever the hell he wants. Whatever happened to freedom of speech? I know that if I was famous I'd run my mouth off at whatever pissed me off. There's TOO MUCH CENSORSHIP nowadays. I don't know what kind of goddamn lunatic would want everyone to be nice and say what a nice guy every other musician is.. how fake would that be?

Well, I don't know how deep this should really extend. I personally think that Radiohead has done marvelous work, and, as they're probably my favorite band right now, I prefer their music to that of the Killers... However, it's stupid to argue about something that Brandon Flowers said once. Don't be dumb about it, Thom York wouldn't be.

Who really cares?? I mean the guy is a musician not a Rhodes Scholar, so stop expecting intelligent comments or any intelligence for that matter. And Killers fans....I like their music so I'm not being overly critical cause I hate them! I have to say my opinion of the guy took a huge nosedive when I found out he's a MORMAN!!
