Most of the time, things that seem too good to be true often are. Take, for instance, the rumored collaboration between David Bowie and Lady Gaga. After a document turned up on the Internet last week that named Bowie as a producer, vocalist, and guitarist on the album, fans were buzzing about the possibilities. Bowie is having none of it, and released the following statement:
"The suggestion that David Bowie is producing and participating in the production of Lady Gaga's next album is untrue and a hoax. When this tall story first surfaced a few days ago it was denied as a hoax in an update to the same article, and we thought that would be the end of it. I guess some folk see what they want to see though."
It's back to square one for all the Gaga prognosticators, and let us all wipe away a single tear for what might have been. [Billboard]
Lady Gaga's lack of modesty is repulsive. She's constantly speaking of herself as if she is on the same level as David Bowie. Bowie is an art god with decades of work and experience. How arrogant of Gaga to assume she is in the same league as Bowie after simply producing one popular album. Even older music stars -- like the members of Duran Duran, who help build MTV -- don't dare compare themselves to David Bowie.
