Bowerbirds Ready to Soar Again With New Album, <i>Upper Air</i>

North Carolina's Bowerbirds quietly announced themselves to the music world with last year's excellent Hymns for a Dark Horse. And now the band is ready to return with some more pastoral folk on their sophomore album Upper Air. Like the reissue of Hymns for a Dark Horse (originally put our by Burly Time), Upper Air will be released by Dead Oceans, and the label plans to release the album on July 7. Until then, Bowerbirds will take a break from opening for the likes of Bon Iver and head out on their own headlining tour of North America. Catch them if you can. They sound just as threadbare and brilliant live as they do on record. If that's possible.
