Earthy North Carolina folk trio Bowerbirds is the latest addition to the Dead Oceans imprint, itself the latest addition to the family of labels that includes Jagjaguwar and Secretly Canadian. Bowerbirds join a growing, glowing roster that includes Evangelicals and Dirty Projectors. Dead Oceans will give Bowerbirds' critically acclaimed debut, Hymns for a Dark Horse, the expanded reissue treatment in June. The album was originally released last year on Burly Time.
