In case you haven't seen Japanese everything-rockers* Boris in concert, I'll sum it up for you: It's insanely loud and pretty damn awesome. The trio, which is typically joined by frequent collaborator Michio Kurihara, do quite a fine job of transition between tracks from their genre-jumping records. Even though you can't really understand the lyrics, you'll be able to enjoy it through the assault on your eardrums from the drums and layers of distorted bass and guitar.
And now, you won't have to plunk down money for a concert ticket as Boris is releasing its first live DVD, the aptly titled Live In Japan. The video mostly features live versions of tracks from Pink and Smile, though a few others have made their way into the mix, too. The footage was filmed in Tokyo during the band's last show on the 2008 Smile World Tour.
Live In Japan is due out Jan. 18, 2011 on Southern Lord.
*I use this term because, well, they have covered almost every sub-genre of rock. Don't believe me? Go through their discography and check it out. Maybe it's time they make that pop-rock album, though.
