Southern Lord artists Boris, Sunn0))) and Earth have always made music that would go well with nightmares, visions of the godhead, pit-of-the-stomach feelings and the like. Now they’re finally getting a proper airing via soundtrack, in Jim Jarmusch’s upcoming film The Limits of Control , the tale of a mysterious Spanish drifter. In total, the movie will feature seven tracks from these venerable drone/doom artists: Boris - " " aka “Smile” (from the Japanese version of Smile )
Boris - "Feedbacker I & IV" (from Feedbacker )
Boris -"Fuzzy Reactor" (from Rainbow )
Boris -"Farewell" (From Pink )
sunn 0)))/Boris - "N.L.T." (From Altar )
sunn 0)))/Boris - "Blood Swamp" (From Altar )
Earth – “Omens and Portents 1: The Driver” (from The Bees Made Honey In The Lions' Skull )
Remember that spare Neil Young score from Dead Man ? RZA’s music for Ghost Dog ? The alternation between Ethiopian jazz and Sleep’s stoner doom in Broken Flowers ? The cameos from Tom Waits, the White Stripes and members of Wu-Tang in Coffee and Cigarettes ? Since he started making movies, Jarmusch has tied hip music in with his directorial vision. The Limits of Control should be no different.
